These are formidableopponents indeed, as theyhave weapons brought fromthe plane of spirits. Bewareespecially their Dust ofDeath, which they canrelease at will. Thesedeadly spores eat away aperson from the inside ifinhaled and they become aservant of evil forever.POLTERGEISTS are freespirits who have beentrapped in our plane bymagic. They actually do whatthey want and cannot becontrolled, but simplyperform the same task aswhen they were alive. Theyhave no attacking abilitybut they too cannot beattacked in any way.SHAPESHIFTERS are some ofthe more powerful,non-demonoid creatures thatone is likely to face. Ashapeshifter can re-arrangeits genetic structure atwill and take on the form ofanother of roughly equalsize. Its true form,however, is that of a hugeserpent, its jaws drippingdeadly poison. It attacks byspitting poison at itsvictim. Shapeshifters arealso powerful magic usersand can often be found atthe head of a band ofmonsters. They are totallyevil and stop at nothing inorder to cause pain anddeath. It takes minutes forthe poison to kill soprepare many potions beforefighting these.SKELETONS are the bones ofhumans that have beenre-animated. They areusually used only as guardsand are quite easy todispatch, being slow andfairly weak. Some have beenknown to have been imbuedwith minor magic. Beware,however, for they canregenerate themselves withtime after being disabled.VAMPIRES are split into twotypes, purestrain andhybrid. A pure vampire isthe child of two vampireswhile a hybrid is a vampirewho has been infected by apurestrain. They appear asold fashioned humans withpronounced canines and paleskin. Purestrains areextremely dangerous, havingfew weaknesses and apowerful offensivecapability. Hybrids arelesser vampires to theirpurestrain parents, havingmany more weaknesses. Theseoften turn up in largegroups or families toprotect their creator. Mostvampires hate holy items,sunlight and garlic. All cancast at least some magic.VAMPIRE BATS are not reallyvampiric in nature but areactually oversized bats witha taste for blood. They haveno magic and are very weak.However, their quick supriseattacks in large numbershave meant the end for many.WIGHTS are powerfulguardians that live in thebodies they had in life.They have a freezing touchwhich can cause paralisisand extreme damage. Theymust stay in contact withtheir physical bodies at alltimes and spend most of thetime 'sleeping' there. Theyare usually activated by thepresence of life.ZOMBIES are merely animatedbodies. They are totallystupid, and unable to makedecisions, and must followsimple instructions like apuppet on a string. They areusually quite tough andstrong and can be magicallyprotected by theircontroller.The ancient art of leadedlighting is one notpracticed much in thesemodern times.
