Adobe Acrobat is a family of computer programs developed by Adobe Systems, designed to view, create, manipulate and manage files in Adobe's Portable Document Format (PDF). Some software in the family, particularly the creating software, is commercial, and some is freeware. Adobe Reader (formerly Acrobat Reader) is available as a no-charge download from Adobe's web site, and allows the viewing and printing of PDF files. Acrobat and Reader are widely used as a way to present information with a fixed layout similar to a paper publication.

4th DL above: is the compressed zip archive containing a ".toast" image of Adobe Acrobat 5.0 CD-ROM. Included on the CD is Adobe Acrobat 5.0 installer, Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.0 installer, documentations like help and third party solutions, and Adobe tryouts (GoLive 5.0, Illustrator 9.0, and LiveMotion), "AdobeAcrobat5CD.ZIP" (311 MB)
MD5 Checksum: 4B1C7A98950304C5E678E3E6F0F31DE6 *AdobeAcrobat5CD.ZIP

[Note]: As the top DL contains the full installer and all of the known updates (5.0.5 & 5.0.10), the 2nd & 3rd DL's are useful if you have version 5.0 and only require the updates.

Adobe Acrobat 5.0
Mediafire mirror (archive contains the full Acrobat 5.0 and Acrobat Reader 5.0 installers, only)
Compatibility
Architecture: PPC PPC (Carbonized)

Mac OS 8.6 and above (to Mac OS X 10.4.11) PPC

 • The file "Acrobat 5.0 Installer, installs as a Classic PPC app only.
 • The included 5.0.5 updater "Acrobat 5.0 Patch EFG", carbonizes Acrobat to become both PPC Mac OS X & Classic native, allowing this version of Acrobat to run native on PPC Mac OS's up to OS X 10.4.11.
 • The additional "Acro_5010_Update" is a security patch that fixes "buffer overflow vulnerabilities" in Acrobat updating Acrobat 5.0.5 to version 5.0.10

[Note]: There is however no included Carbon updater for Distiller, and although it is updated to version 5.0.5 by the included "Acrobat 5.0 Patch EFG", it remains a Classic PPC app only.

The Update downloads aren't working. They send me to a page not found page.

I've uploaded the 5.0.5 & 5.0.10 updates separately, as the MediaFire DL appears to contain the version 5.0 installers only. The original Archived (115.25 MB) "Temporarily unavailable due to high bandwidth costs" file listed above, contained the updaters. So these were different uploads.

I located these updaters via the Wayback Machine.

If the MediaFire copy vanishes in the foreseeable future, then I believe the internally uploaded archive can be recovered and made available elsewhere.

[Edit] With the new server changes, the internal archive is also now available Smile

What do you want Acrobat 3 or 5 for? Both are for a Classic Mac OS only

I've since had to revise my own opinion about version 5, as the included updater Carbonizes Acrobat to run native on both OS X & Classic PPC. No included updater for Distiler tho'. I've added this info to the Compatibility field above.

What do you want Acrobat 3 or 5 for? Both are for a Classic Mac OS only, and Stuffit Expander 10.x runs on OS X only. Ver 10 I'm guessing doesn't like such an old file type...

Acrobat 3 & 5 only run on Classic Mac OS's so if you want to run these on old OS's; Why aren't you trying to extract them on older Classic Mac OS's using compatible Stuffit extraction software. For example Stuffit Expander 5.5?

Hi, Even with my Google+ account, I don't have access to this page… :—(
I've also tried to get the Acrobat 3 CD, but once I have the 3 files as a single '.sit' Expender [10.0.2] says it would take over 4000 hours (!)… I've stopped the extraction when the '.img' file got to 5 Go…
So no vers.3 and no vers. 5 ?
[a bit desperate!]
Any other suggestions?
Thanks

I won't post a direct mirror link to this page because there's a limit to how much I can keep track of and maintain.

Does anyone have a version of this to share with a starving student?
