"...Altsys also developed FreeHand (originally called Masterpiece) as a Macintosh Postscript-based illustration program that used Bezier curves for drawing and was similar to Adobe Illustrator. FreeHand was announced as '...a Macintosh graphics program described as having all the features of Adobe’s Illustrator plus drawing tools such as those in Mac Paint and Mac Draft and special effects similar to those in Cricket Draw.' Seattle’s Aldus Corporation acquired a licensing agreement with Altsys to release FreeHand along with their flagship product, Pagemaker, and Aldus FreeHand 1.0 was released in 1988. FreeHand’s product name used intercaps; the F and H were capitalized." --Wikipedia.org

And I get tired of having so many confusing pages come up when using the search bar, their description fields filled with personal opinions and unnecessary details.
I used to simply upload archives and leave the filling out of description and screenshots to other willing contributors, only there aren't any, just people leaving complaining comments about the lack of description. Apparently my efforts at acquiring and making these archives aren't enough, I also have to mess around getting screenshots and typing descriptions, and titling them in a way that makes everyone happy. Only I can't make everyone happy.
The Garden isn't my site, and it's a wiki, so do what you want. I also highly recommend making your own site, where you can make it just the way you want it. I've done so, and I wish more people would. There's less danger of losing all this stuff if there are more sister sites around the web, each with their own style.
I have to disagree. Without version numbering in the title there is a danger of double-ups occurring. For example, Freehand 3.x on that page, was here before version 3.x was added to this page. Adding version four to this page would be not so good either as Freehand 4.x is already here.
I would prefer that the pages for vers. 3 & 4 were kept separate from 1 & 2, too. As version 3 was a milestone release in the development of this program and version 4 was another milestone release. Version 4 being a zillion or so light years ahead of those earlier versions. Key features in version 4 remained in future Freehand versions right up to its demise at the hands of Adobe. I would not like to see version 4 added or merged into this page.
Having the version number in the title, also helps (me) in researching a program, without the need to read through the description looking for a version number, or (worse) downloading the prog just to find out if its the program version I'm seeking (or not).
I would also like to see Freehand version 3 on this page moved to & replace the copy on the version 3 page as the one thats been added to this page is clearly the better copy.
This is a catch-all page for early versions of this software published by Aldus. Currently it has versions 1-3 but 4 could be added as well. I'm not a fan of including version numbers in the title. Version numbers etc. can go in the description field. I generally don't put them in the title unless there's already a bunch of pages that for whatever reason have their version numbers there. Either there's legitimate reason for having another page (different publisher, system requirements, whatever) or someone clearly has personalized a page to such a degree that I don't want to try to change it.
Do you have freehand 4 ?
