Comments
The official AHT images from Apple are gone. These included AHT 1.2.6 which was for all Desktop Power Mac G4s up to the original MDD, which means it only excluded the FW800.
Does anyone know if AHT 1.2 is also suitable for the Quicksilver?
Anyway, I just noticed that Apple seems to have removed their ISO images, so I'd like to ask for your help to get them preserved here. I did download them once but cannot find them right now...
Here's what was on Apples' site:

These were the original links to Apple:

Thanks.
The actual machine-specific, bootable system and diagnostic software on the CD are not visible when viewing these mounted CD's from an already running system.
The hidden files on the CD are software that require no human interaction. This software is machine specific and interacts only with the computer that you boot up to, from the CD. These are low-level hardware test diagnostic tools which interact directly with the Macintosh hardware.
If you read the enclosed SimpleText doc, it will inform you on how to use the CD to test your Mac's hardware.
I have an actual CD of the G4 version of this app that I've used several times. It is bootable and uses a simple interface to display the results as it performs various tasks.
To do that doesn't require a large application. But you will likely need to burn the app to a real CD to make it work.

I'm confused. Why does this just include a simple text readme doc and a copy of simple text app?
