Download: 267.1 MB .iso file in three segments. Also available on max1zzz's web server.
This CD is the first preview release from 1997. Same 230105 CD as the soon to follow MacWorld Release - but without the funky dual HFS partition (containing only the MacWorld press releases for the Expo). Possibly more "user friendly" WRT burning a copy from this DL - and actually installing it onto a compatible Macintosh.
CompatibilityIt is only compatible with certain 603/604 PowerPC machines.
If you have heard of, or knew of BeOS beforehand (and can actually use this Preview Release), cool. Otherwise this CD ".iso's" humongous 279 MB DL, is not for you.
IOW: this will not work in an emulator (or an incompatible Mac). It has to Be the Real Deal - an actual compatible PPC Macintosh... Can I point this little fact out, enough?

@Smartcom5: neat desktop screenshot. Thanks!
@Vitoarc: I don't know about whether MacTracker does what, WRT does it have Nubus or is compatible with BeOS. AFAIK the 8200 and most Performa models with the exception of the Performa 4400, 6360 & 6400 series, were not compatible with the BeOS preview release or later.
I've often relied on, Especially for info regrading Classic Mac hardware to: The Apple Spec database
Either choose the "Apple_Spec_8-98.smi.bin" DL if you have FileMaker Pro 3 or newer, or DL the file "Apple_Spec_app.smi.bin" for a standalone FM Pro "player" version of the same. Either choice, you get immediate info on Classic Macs with this database, without futzing about with web pages that may or may not deliver you to the correct info (this DB is Apple official) and fast.
The Apple Specs DB doesn't mention a "Performa" 8200 but does list a Power Macintosh 8200/100 and 8200/120 respectively. Both have a 601 CPU but both have PCI slots not Nubus, which does not concur with TyCom Systems' "Power Macintosh 8200 [2] Support for NuBus-based systems will not be available." - I think they have erred here, as the 8200 is PCI not Nubus. It should read "[3] Support for PowerPC 601-based designs will not be available." Which would be more plausable.
Hmmm, I'm just noting something interesting/peculiar here. On Mactracker version 5.2.1, it only lists the PPC 6100, 7100, 8100 as NuBus. Therefore it leaves out the 8200 and the Performa models mentioned in the link http://www.tycomsystems.com/beos/ppc_ready.html
Can anyone confirm that "Macktracker" is indeed errant regarding these expansion ports?

I can confirm this - have been there and done that - No it will not
One Mac I owned at the time that could boot into the Be partition and install this BeOS Preview was a Performa 6360, but most Macs with 603 and 604 CPUs of that period could... Any G3 CPU or newer? Nup.
Don't waste your bandwidth if you don't need to.
awwww. Bummer. It won't run on my old beige g3
