Presented here is the original Fastback Plus for Macintosh (prior to Fifth Generation System's purchase by Symantec). Fastback Plus was powerful backup software in its day and was intended for backing up software and files to and from external media.

One of Fastback's most useful features was its ability to split large archives into multiple segments across several units of media (such as floppy disks or magnetic tape). The segments could be easily recombined using the Restore function. Fastback Plus also offered the ability to record Macros so as to accomodate repetitive tasks.

When first launched, the program creates a new folder called "Fastback Data Folder" in its parent directory. This folder is used by the program to store backup history files.

Command-clicking a menu option will open a help window with a description of the selection's function.

I rescued this from my old PowerBook 540c. I was afraid it was lost forever, but then remembered it was on there. Had to get a USB floppy drive to get it off, but I think that it's an important little piece of history.
