FinderNote 2.0

This is a simlilar in appearance to the familiar SimpleText application. The main difference is that FinderNote 2 opens, edits & creates Finder Desktop Text Clipping files and it does it rather well.

"FinderNote is a simple text editor whose documents can be read in the Finder (on the Desktop) without needing to run any application. This means that these notes open up as quickly as any other Finder window. This is possible because a FinderNote document is a particular type of file that Apple call a 'clipping'.

Clippings are very handy for keeping memos, to-do lists, notes about other files or folders, 'boilerplate' text (like letterheads) that you can insert into other documents - the list is almost endless.

* Why FinderNote ?

Apple thought up the ingenious idea of clippings, but gave us no simple and immediate way of editing them. And it is very difficult to make a clipping which contains both text and picture. Now FinderNote gives you the quickest and easiest way of editing them and using them to the full."

FinderNote 2.0 is Freeware. This Download is an 800k Disk Copy 4.2 floppy image file that has been archived using Stuffit 3.6 before uploading. Use Stuffit 3.5 or newer to extract.

Compatibility
Architecture: 68k PPC

FinderNote is FAT binary, it runs natively both on 68k and on PowerPC Macintoshes. It also runs in Basilisk II and SheepShaver.

The included FinderNote Extension is an optional install and required only if you wish to enable "hot-keys" to be used with the FinderNote application. [Note] This extension appears to be broken in Mac OS 9.1 and later. It does not affect the operation of the FinderNote application if the extension is not installed (apart from no hot key interaction).
