Greg's Browser is an Control Panel which provides a multi-pane method of browsing the Mac's disks in a similar way to Mac OS X's Column View ...
Greg Landweber's comments on his browser:
"Do you think the Finder is too slow and clumsy when navigating through your folder structure? Do you perhaps use a hierarchical Apple menu utility but are tired of zigging and zagging your mouse from submenu to submenu? Or maybe you just like miniature icons. If so, then you should try Greg's Browser. Displaying multiple folders side-by-side in a single window, Greg's Browser lets you simultaneously see the contents of a folder, its parent, and a subfolder, providing a quick and easy way of moving both up and down through your folder hierarchy. Greg's Browser can browse into StuffIt archives just like they were normal folders, and it uses the StuffIt Engine from Aladdin Systems for stuffing, binhexing, and expanding files."
[Top DL] Archive includes: Greg's Browser 1.3, Greg's Browser 2.7.
[2nd DL] For an earlier Greg's Browser, vers. 1.2
CompatibilityVersion 1.3 needs a color Macintosh with Mac OS 7.0 to 9.2 (Basilisk or SheepShaver) to run.
Versions 1.2 & 1.3 are native 68k only.
The newer version 2.7 released in 2000, is both 68k & PPC native, also Macintosh Appearance Manager aware (runs on systems to 9.2.2 OK).
This software is shareware and version 2.7 may still be affected by this. See available for purchase link above.

AFAIK it's still maintained.
I don't know if the site is actually maintained; the copyright date is 2001. However, Greg Landweber is still around, now an associate professor at Bard University. Perhaps the best thing to do would be to email him at greg...@bard.edu ?
Also -- where's the OS X version? The web site dates version 2.7 to the year 2000, and I don't see anything newer. Version 2.7 does not work in Leopard or above. (It obviously works in Tiger, but only through Classic.)
Thanks for pointing out there is a Mac OS X compatible version of Greg's Browser available.
This one (version 1.3) is a 68k-only version, while 2.7, still available on his page, is a fat application which includes 68k + PowerPC code.

This software is still for sale on his maintained website, is it truly abandonware?
