This are the Developer Previews (not the public beta) of Mac OS X. This versions of the system were launched between May 1999 and May 2000, only for developing purposes.
In DP1 and DP2, OS X looks very similar to Mac OS 9, but it still have OPENSTEP elements. With DP3, Apple introduced the first version of Aqua, which evolved with every new beta version of the OS.

Not obviously. I downloaded DP4 and opened it on Win 7 using WinRAR. It decompressed without error. Might be a truncated download on your side. Try downloading again using a download manager.
Download link for DP4 is broken; I downloaded it, tried to open it with both 7zX and Ez7z (I have an Intel iMac),and it didnʻt work with either of those applications. 7zX gave an error saying "Cannot open file as archive"; Ez7z gave me an error saying "There is no such archive"
So, obviously the file was not archived properly.
I like the screenshots
i wouldn't think winworld really cares, there main reason for existence is to wind up the die hard betaarchive users (their server is practically a carbon copy of betaarchive's)
However i don't know how safe the links are, they did announce they where shutting down a while back, but it never seemed to happen
Does anyone?
Do they like direct downloads linked from other sites?
hi all
i have reupload the link i found from winworldpc.com it is in .7z
thanks David
broken link?
Yes, of course we should upload it to another file sharing site that's just going to disappear or flake out like all the others.
Also, torrents aren't very common here... :/
OK... so torrent? Or there's another server fast and with no registering required?
Nice to know, thanks.
Ah, as we're speaking Mega works on Firefox with a plug-in. Just a tip.
MEGA is only compatible to Chrome which is not installed by all users.
Hey, just more than a year since last time!!!
OK... do we upload it to MEGA, own server or just torrent? Now I have a fast Internet to upload the images
They'll work on a B&W G3 for sure. Not sure about beiges. They'll probably run on iMacs that were made before the DP releases. Any later models (like my Summer 2001 one) won't run them.
Does anyone know whether these previews run on every G3 Mac? Or are there restrictions as with Rhapsody?
In Mediafire or Rapidshare?
DP2 was my favourite.
Considering the size it's probably better to upload these somewhere else rather than hotlinking them from winworldpc however.
Well... This is my first page at Macintosh Garden. I hope you like this post
How fascinating!
