Thank you, MikeTomTom! I am now the proud owner of a working copy of Fireworks 2. Haven't quite figured out how to use it properly, but that's *my* problem, not yours or xeter's. Again, thanking to the both of you!
I don't generally post serial numbers for anything this recent. Sorry.
What I put up is the Flash 3 Player. Flash 3 on the disk was with trial software, and it doesn't say Flash 3 is required on the box, so I shouldn't think it is necessary. Flash 3 Player was with the free software (i.e. Internet Explorer and Netscape). Let me know if it works.
I located one and it installs version 2 - but as a working Demo version. Is this expected to expire in a week or two?
[Edit] My mistake, the S# I 1st used enabled demo mode. I found one that enables fully and its been added above in the DLs - (Download (0.43 KB)) "readme-fwks-2.sit".
Do I have a later version of Flash installed? Doubtful. I do have at least one later version of the Flash plugin for browsers installed, but since the Fireworks installer complained about Flash 3 not being present, I suspect browser plugins don't count. Thanks for adding the Flash 3 installer; willl download that puppy and see what difference that makes.
[after installing Flash 3] Okay, Fireworks 2 installed properly. Doesn't want to run -- it wants a serial number. Bummer. Google search for "fireworks 2 serial number" yielded a few sources for serial numbers; alas, none of the serials from said sources worked. Well, none of the ones I tried -- perhaps I just gave up the hunt too soon. 'Tis a mystery.
Flash 3 (trial) and Flash Player 3 were some of the bloat I took out (will upload here so you can test). Do you have a later version of flash player installed?
Downloaded the stripped-down installer just fine (thanks, xeter!). Alas, it would not let me install Fireworks, because it insists on having Flash 3 installed first. Ah, well. I trust this bit of information will prove useful to others.
Have tried for a day and a half to upload the main Fireworks 2 image (an .hqx file, 333.8 MB), but the website keeps telling me when it finishes the upload process that the file cannot be uploaded. Tried renaming file etc., no go. Have uploaded a stripped down installer in the meantime (uploaded on first attempt).
Bug report: As of 16 December 2011, there doesn't seem to be a download link for the program itself, just its manual. Hope this can be fixed soon.
