Emulation
This app works with: Basilisk II, Mini vMac

Mathematica is a system for doing mathematics with a computer. Symbolic manipulation, graphing, high quality output, and extensibility make this system a choice for physicists, engineers and mathematicians--anyone who must speak math as their vocation's principle language.

Mathematica 1.2.2 ran on Mac OS 6 and Mac OS 8. The developer has requested this version to be removed. Mac OS X, Windows and Linux versions of Mathematica can be purchased from Wolfram.

This is a 30-day trial of Mathematica 3.0. It was included on the cover CD of the August 1998 edition of MacFormat (in the UK). Details of how to register to use the trial are included, it involves sending details of your Mac to Wolfram for a personalised trial serial number.

Compatibility
Architecture: 68k PPC

From the MacFormat article, v3.0 requires:
68000 processor (incredible!!)
20MB RAM
Mac OS 7.1
120MB hard disk space

I don't think so. If you buy a Windows game and then they port it to Macintosh and you want that too, you must pay for it even if the port was done in-house.

If I have the Latest Windows Version ( I really have it)
does it entitle me to have this Mac version (Full) for free?

I hope they send it to me at :

I really love this app. so was very happy to see that someone had uploaded it.

But I can't get the thing to work -- Installed it and loaded it up

But got the message...

"This copy of Mathematica has expired.....
contact .... blah! ... blah!....".

The splash screen that came up briefly,
- gave a date 3/1/1999 - in the top left hand corner -- the expiry date perhaps!,

So I decided to erase the app. and try again, after setting the clock back a few years
(to July 1998) - a very crude dodge I know - but it can sometimes works!.

Not this time though ... the same problem arose.

Perhaps there is some way the app. gets the true current date from the computers guts
(a way that bypasses the "date & time settings")
- either that or there is some obscure hidden file that I failed to erase from first install
- with August 2009 on it!.

Perhaps I have to restart computer with the "false" date.

If not - much as I love this app - I suggest it's erased from the collection
-- an expired demo is probably not worth keeping.

I was using PPC hardware and OSX in "Classic Mode" - so it's OS v9.2.2 - maybe the app. is getting it's date info from these system files.

I'm wondering has anyone had any luck with getting this one going??.

...whether it be any of you guys with the new Intel macs - using Basilisk/SheepShaver
or anyone using beige hardware with an older OS (say 7.6)

.... has anyone managed to get it up and running?

Better still can can someone upload a working version of this "cool" app - demo of course Wink
This demo came off an old MacFormat coverdisc - But I'm hoping that there must be other demo's out there !!!.

@bertyboy

The trial might be suitable.

I have a couple of trial versions, v3.0 I have to hand. Suitable ? but some publishers refuse to let other sites host their downloads, but this just increases the chance that Mac software will disappear for ever.
