Ahead Software |
CD-R recording software for Mac OS. Installs the applications in English/German/French/Italian/Spanish/Dutch languages. Unfortunately, installation requires that all "incompatible" drivers are removed. Toast drivers are deemed to be incompatible by the NeroMAX installer.
The download is a smi file, wrapped up with StuffIt 5.5
NeroMAX for the Mac was only released as an OS 9.X OEM product. You could only receive a copy of NeroMAX from selected CD-R manufacturers that bundled it with their burners. A retail version of NeroMAX for Macintosh was scheduled but, based on the evolution of the NeroMAX page on the Wayback Machine, I doubt that it was ever released.
CompatibilityThe installer is 68k only, so I have to assume that the NeroMAX application is 68k also, as I was not prepared to remove my Toast drivers to do a test install.

I managed to find that 1.68 update on the Wayback Machine. Uploading it here now.
That's good enough for me, MikeTomTom
Not a problem as far as I'm concerned, mrdav.
Is this really for sale from the publisher? The link above does not work and I see no evidence anywhere that it can be purchased. I also found the following statement on a forum thread http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=10012 : ""AHEAD Software only released NeroMax for the Mac as an OS 9.X OEM product. You could only receive a copy of NeroMax from selected CD-R manufacturers that bundled it with their burners."
I have found a copy of this. Surely it will be OK to upload it here and delete the spurious "purchase" link?
What does everyone think about this?
Has anyone experience with Nero Max 1.5.8 compared to Toast 5.2.3, especially in burning boot CDs. Toast 5.2.3 is newer: 2003, system extensions 2002. Nero Max 1.5.8 is dated 2001.
NeroMAXEnglish1.68.sit.bin Claimed to be an update, it's actually the full install. Good luck finding it. Used to be available from Ikebana, which went out of business a while ago. Nero hasn't had anything on their site on NeroMAX for years. The only way to find their info was with a search engine because it wasn't linked to any of their regular site pages.
…but Toast, oddly enough, works with NERO's stuff. Can´t say how good/bad though…
Possibly not compatible with Toast: installer wants to kick out Toast system extensions.
Can´t say I share your experience MCP. Tried the dl link once more and got to wait 40 sec for the dl button but nothing more but the package to appear. You´re not riding the´net without pop-up-blocking are you?
…and I mean the 'Purchase'-link here on this page. Not on the 'uGotFile' page.
At the "purchase" link, after entering the captcha, my browser goes into apoplexy with pop-up windows and such.
