Netscape |
This is Netscape's final release for Mac OS 9. Based on the Mozilla platform introduced in version 6, it renders modern websites far better than any other OS 9 browser. There's an occasional graphical glitch here and there, but it won't stack 16 images on top of eachother and delete half the text like IE and Netscape 4 will sometimes.
CompatibilityPPC only, Tested in Mac OS 9. Mac OS 8 compatibility is presumed, but not guaranteed.
Comments
The older the browser, the more trouble it has with modern webpages.
Try turning off Javascript, and only switch it on for webpages where you need it.
(Go to Preferences > Advanced > Scripts and plugins ; remove tick from the Navigator box
I've tried this but seems way too slow to be useful, is it written in Java? Some of the drop boxes were really stupid. It looks good but for some reason runs really really slow. It also wants me to register an account (fill in name, passwords, age etc.) and then connects to the Netscape Network Server in order to register, which also seems defunt.
Couldn't get it to connect to any webpage seemed to be taking 20 mins or so!?
Google homepage did look accurate though. My attempt was using OS9.1 and carbon lib 1.1.1 - I'm checking my system just in case I have a virus that slows my system.
Getting an XML error when I attempt to download.

Tip:
If you are a Yahoo mail user and don´t want/like the new purple yahoo mail
that Yahoo wants you to change no matter what, then..
try to Log in to Yahoo mail by using Netscape ( I used v9.0.0.5)
and it´ll give you the choice to use the classic Yahoo mail back AGAIN!
well, I found out that by accident and worked for me.
Could the download link be checked please. Currently the link above just calls a small file of stuff that looks like it could be code or something. Unless I'm doing something wrong (likely). Thanks
Netscape is my All-Time favorite,
as a matter of fact, I'm still using Netscape (right now) v9.0.0.5, is really fast and never crashes,
the only website that tells me is outdated is MySpace
when I try to edit my profile or add Pics, doesn't let me in.
So I just adopted Opera which is really fast too.
for some reason Firefox doesn't work for me, is extremely slow and has bad memory leaks,
I never liked Firefox. (except v2)
just a thought
