I uploaded a couple of snapshots to give you the gist of what it looks like. Calendar, Appointments and Address Book. You can hide the pictures if you want to. I couldn't figure out how to make pictures to replace the current items. I did a little editing of the snap shots before posting for obvious reasons.

Getting Started

The Penthouse Calendar may be run from your program disk or from a hard drive. For optimum performance, we suggest that you copy the files to your hard disk before running the application. To copy the files, open the PENTHOUSE Calendar disk icon then highlight and drag the icons to your hard disk. It doesn't matter where you place them on your hard disk, so long as the files remain together and the picture files remain in the Pets directory.

To run the application, simply double-click on the Calendar icon. After a few seconds, you will be presented with a 3-D calendar window and a Pet photo window.

Calendar Window

The Calendar window displays a full size calendar initialized to the current month. The highlight box represents the current day. Each calendar day box acts as a button that may be selected by using the mouse. When you click on a day box, the appointments for that day, if any, will be displayed in an appointment box. From here, you may edit, add, save, or clear appointments. Select Clear, Save, or Cancel to return to the Calendar window. Days that contain appointments are noted by a 'fold' in the lower right corner of the day box.

You may change the calendar month and day by selecting the Calendar menu and choosing the Jump to Date item. You will be presented with a dialog box prompting you for the new month, day, and year. You may edit one or all of the date fields. Select OK when done and the calendar will be redrawn to reflect the new date. You can also select the Current Date option at any time, to jump to the current date.

Pet Window

The Pet window is used to display one of our attractive Penthouse Pets. There are 16 different photos included with the program. You can change the photo by pulling down the View menu and select either Previous Photo or Next Photo. Likewise, you may use Command-K or Command-L keys. You can hide the Pet Window by clicking on the window close box. You can toggle the window open or closed by selecting the View menu and choosing Hide/Show Photo.

The Penthouse Calendar supports the Copy command in the Pet Window. To copy a portion of a photo, first select the Pet Window then click and drag the rubber band box around the portion to copy. Select the Edit menu and choose the Copy item to copy the block to the scrap.

When you exit the Penthouse Calendar, the photo that was last viewed on screen will be saved to your Preferences file. This photo will be displayed the next time you run the program. Also, the window locations of the Pet Window and the Calendar Window are saved upon exitting the program.

Address Book

The Calendar Address Book may be accessed by selecting the View menu and choosing the Address Book item. You'll be presented with an Address Book dialog. From here you can view the individual entries with Next and Previous, or Add, Change, Delete, Search on, or Print entries by selecting the appropriate dialog buttons. Initially, the Address Book will display Empty in the window, until you add a new entry.

NOTE: The Search button allows you to search the Address Book database by LAST NAME ONLY.

Photo Manager

The Penthouse Calendar program comes with a Photo Manager that allows you to customize the way the program displays the pictures in the Pet Window. To access the Photo Manager, select the Photo Manager item in the View menu. You are presented with a dialog box that shows the filename and status of the current photo being viewed. The status line shows whether or not the photo will be visible in the Pet Window. To change the photo status, use the Prev and Next buttons to flip to the appropriate photo then select Hide or Show. You can reset the status of every photo to visible, by selecting the Reset button. Click on the done button when your through. Your preferences will be saved to disk.

Printing

If you have a printer, you can print various parts of the Calendar information. Before printing be sure to select the Page Setup item under the File menu. Adjust these settings according to the printer you have. When your done, you may choose one of the four print options in the Print submenu under the File menu. You may print the calendar, the photo, your appointments, or a combination of both the calendar and appointments. If you have alot of appointments, you may want to print in Landscape mode.

Quitting the Program

To quit the Calendar, simply click on the close box in the Calendar Window or select the Quit item under the File menu. After exiting the program, you may notice a couple of new files in the Calendar application directory. The CALPREFS file keeps track of the last photo you were viewing, and stores the screen locations of the Calendar and PetWindows. Any filename with a year, ie 1994, contains all appointments for the year. The NAMES and INDEX files comprise the Address Book entries. You may delete any or all of these files at any time, to start from scratch. However, keep in mind that the NAMES and INDEX file work together. To remove your Address Book entries, be sure to delete BOTH of these files.
