QDesign MVP 1.2 enables users to record directly from CD to MP3 and QDesign Music formats. High quality MP3 files can be created from 64kbits to 192kbits/s. For even higher quality audio at lower data rates (less disk space), users can encode in the QDesign Music format where full-bandwidth 44.1kHz stereo audio can be produced at less than 2 percent of the original file size. With QuickTime 4 installed as the core media playback engine, MVP offers full support for play back of all popular digital audio formats (CD Audio, AIFF, WAV, and others), as well as, most digital music videos available on the Web and enhanced CDs. It was available for Mac OS and Windows.
MVP can output Video, too. Video must be in QuickTime format. Unfortunately, it can't be watched in full screen.
Intial development of this product started in 1999, it was halted in 2002 when the company was bought by DTS. Because of that, this software is considered abandonware, and the serial number can be published here. It unlocks the unlimited MP3 encoding (without the serial number, the MP2/MP3 encoding is limited to 30 days, and the QDesign Music encoding is free, with or without serial number).

This is completely true.
No, the CD-ROM drive was where you got your audio for making MPEG-1 Layer III audio files (MP3), hence the "recommended." I hope it isn't an issue, but I have been entering minimum requirements as provided by the author/manufacturer. I figured there are still some people out there running this stuff on time period machines rather than emulation, and those running this stuff in emulation could just as easily figure out what they need to get the software running.
I think the system req 'CD-ROM Drive' must be for original installing reasons only.
