ramBunctious is a RAM disk program for the Macintosh. The authors claim that ramBunctious maintains the advantages and eliminates the disadvantages of other RAM disk programs.
Several options let you customize for your desired balance of speed, security, safety, and versatility. For example, you can set it to write through to a file on a (real) disk for safety in the event of a crash. You can mount as many RAM disks as you wish (or as many as you have memory for) simultaneously. ramBunctious uses the same memory that applications use, so the memory used for each RAM disk is instantly available for other applications when the RAM disk is put away.
Two versions available: version 1.5 (233.51 KB) and version 1.6.2 (254.6 KB)
Register: rb00src
CompatibilityramBunctious 1.6.2 supports Mac OS 8.6 through Mac OS 9.2.
ramBunctious 1.5 support Mac OS 7 and higher.
Comments
I like this app. Works nicely on my Performa 6214 with OS 8.6. It takes me back to the days. Fun to store select images, etc.
If there's a CODE resource (use ResEdit) in the resource fork, it's m68k. PPC code was stored in the data fork.
if an application includes 68k or PPC (or both),
you could check with NativeChecker.
Simply drag the desired application onto the NativeChecker application.
Personally, this is my favorite RAM disk program for the classic OS. Powerful but easy to handle. Couldn't find out if version 1.5 is FAT, maybe some 68k user can check? Also, again I wish I would be able to name downloads. Would make it much easier to distinguish between the two versions...
