Software Sampler: An Intro to Macintosh™ Applications
I've had this disk since 1986 and it never did boot back in the day. I fixed that today and was surprised to see a different splash screen at boot.
Scarce sample data files and "cheat sheets" documents for these landmark apps.
Note (by The C):
1. I need dmg images for my needs. I have only tried this with Mini vMac running under MacOS X Lion. If you need an img file you should be able to change the file extension from dmg to img and it will work.
2. I am in the process of creating high quality MacOS X Lion style icons for my entire virtual floppy collection. Ironically, the 512, 256, and 128 composite icns file is ~300K.
I don't mind at all, if it bothers you, then remove them.
Note about 2nd Download above (436.73 KB) (by MTT):
Its a replication of the original uploaded ".dmg" (Top DL above). I've converted back it to a Disk Copy 4.2, 800k floppy disk .image file and compressed it with Stuffit 3.6 ".sit" for fairly good backward compatibility.
MD5 checksum & filename: 19d281ac8a57badc682706b39709843d *software-sampler-01.sit
The Disk Copy floppy image once extracted from it's ".sit" archive is both mountable AND/OR bootable in Mini vMac. Its also can be written back to an 800k Mac floppy disk and is able to boot an actual Mac Plus or any Mac hardware capable of running SSW up to 5 or 6 from floppy disk.
Diskette Contents:
• MacDraw
• MacWrite
• MacProject
• MacPaint
Part No. 690-5061-A
CompatibilityWill boot-up natively into Mini vMac (Mac Plus) and can also be accessed from an already booted drive.
Comments
The DL's have been fixed.
can not download -.- upload the new one please
If and when you "dust off the ole SE", can you please Disk Copy 4.2 any of the suitable floppies you may have to archive, and (while still in the ol' SE, before moving it to a modern PC for upload), use Stuffit (Deluxe or Lite) v3.5 or v3.6 to archive the DC-4.2 ".image files" to ".sit" for maximum backwards compatibility? For those of us who are still using ancient original hardware. Thanks if you can do this.
Balrog - The next time I dust off the ole SE and image some disks I'll use Disk Copy 4.2 for reference images instead of DiskDup+ 2.22 which is what I used last time. - The C.
Any possibility you can make Disk Copy 4.2 images of these disks? .dmg files are pretty much useless for floppy disks, and conversion causes data loss (as does imaging with Disk Copy 6).
Thanks for the rare gem.
