SoundJam MP was an MP3 player, which Apple acquired and turned into the first version of iTunes. Its competition was Panic's Audion.
SoundJam features fast conversion from CD, AIFF, QuickTime, and WAV formats to MP3, and allows you to play MP3 streams over the internet. You can quickly and easily create customizable playlists, and organize your music by artist, track, song, and music style. It features a 10-Band Graphic Equalizer that allows you to control the quality and tone of your music manually or by using preset music styles: Jazz, Rock, Classical and more.
Included is a selection of skins to change the look and plug-ins for cool visual effects, and if you want to use skins from Audion or Winamp Classic, the "Skin Conversion Tool" will help you in this task. Skins are also available as separate downloads.
SoundJam MP is Intenet-friendly! As mentioned, MP3 stream play is supported, you can use the Kerbango Radio Service to hear internet radio.

super
How true. Thanks for being diligent.
This has been up on the Garden for quite awhile, I only edited it today because I was thinking about Casady & Greene applications and wondered why this one didn't show up. Don't just wait for stuff to show up on the "recent changes," go take a look around the site alphabetically or click on publishers' or authors' names to see what else turns up. A lot of things posted here are neglected.
Perfect, thanks! I had just the Free version on my iMac G3 but couldn't track down my old copy of the full app. I used this for years! The strongest memory is listening to the mp3 export of my new songs after they were completed... was the first thing I remembered upon seeing the SoundJam MP interface .
Someone who uses old hardware. And who says it is limited to MP3?
Who would need a software or hardware player which is limited to MP3?
Apple purchased SoundJam as a basis of the later iTunes.
