SoundMaster (plus Vol. 2, Star Trek Sounds)

This is a nice, little control panel to change the sounds of various functions of the Mac. Included is the app itself and the Star Trek set (Volume 1: The Logical Collection) it intially shipped with. The application itself is only 1.8.4, but the author changed it to 1.8.5 and made it freeware.

Also included is the second volume of the Star Trek soundware. All 52 of the original sound clips are included.

One of the most beloved Mac interface enhancements (up there with Kaleidoscope and AMICO), SoundMaster let you assign wacky sound effects to almost any common action. Boot up to a greeting from Hal 9000, eject a disk with a vomiting sound, have Oscar the Grouch sing as you empty the trash...you name it. The default Star Trek sounds (included) are fairly entertaining on their own. Not necessarily recommended for those who value their tranquility.
