What is SplitIt!?
Do you ever have to transfer files from one Mac to another via floppy disks? Perhaps you've needed to backup an application or data file onto a floppy, but it was too large to fit?
These are the situations SplitIt! was originally designed for. SplitIt! will break up any kind of file for you into whatever size you need, plus allow you to easily reassemble the pieces back into the original file.How I use SplitIt?
It's simple. Simply drag and drop any file or application onto the SplitIt! program. You will be prompted for a size for SplitIt! to break the file into. By default, the size is 1.44 megabytes, which an ideal size to fit a piece on a single high-density floppy disk.
When you hit the 'Split' button, the program will then split the file up into pieces of the assigned size. It saves the pieces in the same folder as the original file.
To reassemble a file, select all the pieces and either drag and drop them into the SplitIt! program or else double-click on them. SplitIt! will them reassemble the pieces into the original file and store it in the same folder as the pieces.
SplitIt! has a default splitter size for 800k and 1.4MB, but you can enter any size you want to get much larger segments.

Native PPC, works on PPC and 68k Macs. Tested it on systems 7.1.1 - 9.2.2 and emulators, Mini vMac, Basilisk II & SheepShaver; All working.
