I've no idea to use this app, but a Mac OS X version would be a very nice and useful piece of software...

Its a very easy to use program, but there is a very good walk-through for TomeViewer linked to by MacWise's comments at very end of this thread/page. TomeViewer also runs under Classic up to Mac OS X 10.4.11

For a Mac OS X native .pkg viewer there is CharlesSoft's Pacifist. Although, it is a $20 shareware app.

There's a tale of success with Apple Backup files here http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=123054&tstart=317 by using the Apple Restore programme from a 7.01P Utilities Disk.

http://support.apple.com/kb/TA28741?viewlocale=en_US suggests that System 7.1P6 may have a better version of Apple Backup that previous versions.

That's good stuff, thanks. Now can anyone come up with an app that can read Apple Backup documents?

As far as I can tell that application was only used in those rough years of a million performas, and is almost impossible to find details about. It appears to be a fairly straight-forward disk imaging mechanism, but I had to write my own code to pick an archive apart. I would love a complete solution.
