VideoWorks is an ancestor of Director, the multimedia creation software. Apparently MacroMind used VideoWorks to create the Interactive Guided Tour that Apple bundled with most Macs at the time.

If you're a fan of Mark Stephen Pierce's B&W animation and artwork for the 1-bit 512x342 era of the Macintosh, the assets on the VideoWorks "Art" and "Movies" disks contain his work. It's some of the best of its kind. It's a pity he didn't make more games demonstrating his skill in B&W animation. I think Dark Castle and Beyond Dark Castle are the only two.
