WannaBe is a limited text-only web browser for MacOS. WannaBe should run under MacOS 7.5 and later versions, and may also run under Mac OS 7.1 if the Drag Manager and Thread Manager are installed.

It also requires Color Quickdraw, which is available on all PowerPC and 68k Macs except those with the original Motorola 68000 processor. Finally, WannaBe requires Internet Config 2.0 or later.

WannaBe comes in two versions: One optimized for 68k Macs (file size: 355.63 kb) and one for PPC Macintosh computers (file size 393 kb).

The third archive contains a set of search plug-ins, including one created for searching Macintosh Garden.

I love this browser. So fast, as others have said. It lets me fly around the net at Broadband speeds when I'm on the lowliest dial-up connection (in my case, 28.8kpbs). A great feature is that if I am reading a page I would really like to view in a bells & whistles browser, its easy enough to do via a drop-down selection menu in Wannabe.

Just superb.

I added an archive with search plug-ins for WannaBe. I am not sure they all work still, but I have used the ones for Google and the one I created for Macintosh Garden. Also included are search plug-ins for eBay, Yahoo!, and IMDB.

To use, just double-click the search plug-in and it will launch WannaBe, opening a smaller window where you enter your search term(Drunk.

Indeed, I also prefer WannaBe over Lynx. I've been surfing the web on my PowerMac 7100/80 using WannaBe and it works really well. Other than with old Netscape versions, this one is fast. It's nice if you want to quickly read up some news. Feels like the 80s ... highly recommend for a nostalgic trip. haha Laughing out loud

I like this more like Lynx.
