has anyone still got the OS9 no-cd patch? otherwise, I was able to find an external link to this which included the carbon patch and got it running in both OS9 on an iMac G3 and Snow Leopard on a first-gen Macbook, so I'm happy!
Works great in OS9, however in OSX it requires the OSX Carbon patch and image to be mounted.
The patch is at the following adress:
http://alphacentauri2.info/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=10
However, after examining what the original no-cd crack for OS9 does (using windiff), here are the hex values to change to play WITHOUT having the disk image mounted.
Open your favorite hex editor (hexfiend is a good one), and open SMAC Carbon (from the above patch)
go to offset 1e210
replace
82 00 0c 38 60 00 00 48
with
82 00 0c 38 60 00 01 48
and this should work like a charm without the disk image, exactly like when using the old no cd patch in OS9!!
Enjoy
