CompatibilityThe Amazon Trail is an educational computer game created by MECC. It was inspired by the popularity of The Oregon Trail, featuring the areas surrounding the Amazon River and some of its tributaries. In this 2-D adventure, the player is asked to set out on a journey down the Amazon, hoping to make it to the lost Inca village of Vilcabamba. Along the way, the player learns about the people who live on and use the river for their survival. There are two sequels, Amazon Trail II and Amazon Trail 3rd Edition. Wikipedia

Though this game won't work on my computer, I am compelled to write a review of it, for nostalgia sake.
Amazon Trail was probably the most successful educational game I've ever played. Everything about it, in my opinion, is sublime. It takes a long time to beat, but then again, the Amazon River itself is also very long, so that makes sense.
I always thought Liana was hot.
Would anybody have an idea why I would get this error:
The application "Amazon Trail" has unexpectedly quit, because an error of type 2 occurred.
You should save your work.....
Also, type 3 error appears as well. I'm running os9 on a g3 mac. It worked before? Also deleted it twice for a fresh copy (including prefs) and still nothing works.
Just delete the requested config file.
Must be located in either "/Macintosh HD/System Folder/Preferences/"
or "/Macintosh HD/System Folder/".
Sometimes in the game folder, instead of in the System Preferences folder.
I downloaded this game here, but its not working. I'm using Basilisk II by the way. Everytime I open it up to run I get a message saying
"Your config file is for a different version of Amazon Trail and cannot be used."
How can I fix this? I really miss seeing this game!
My head is swimming (ha-ha) in nostalgia right now... played this when I was like... hmm, 10? Memories... Quite the entertaining game. All of the old "Trail" games were quite the quality wastes of my time. Thanks, uploader!
I played this when I was in 2nd grade. Classic gaming at it's best.
This brings back memories of 1997-1998.
