With regards to the story, American McGee's Alice is a direct sequel to Lewis Carroll's famous book Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. The story begins with Alice's parents dying in a house fire, and Alice taking the blame for it. After repeated attempts at suicide, she gets locked up inside a mental institution and is slowly wasting away there before she is summoned to Wonderland again by the White Rabbit. But this time it's a Wonderland gone seriously bad and gory. The only chance for Alice to restore her piece of mind and find out more about the death of her parents is to fight through Wonderland and free it from the evil powers.

The game is an interactive horror game, but unlike games such as Out Of This World, and Resident Evil, you interact with the madness as Alice tries to escape the demented surroundings of her own fantasy world that she's been thrust into. Concerning the gameplay, a classic 3D action adventure with a female heroine is offered, much like Tomb Raider. Alice fights, jumps and runs her mostly linear way through environments that can best be described as surreal.

Thanks, Kitchen2000, me thinks the same.

The original support website at Aspyr is not more available (see link) and update not available on the internet but that German mirror website that may go away anytime.

So it is OK if we keep that update and manual archive for the future, because you will still need the Game CD. Owner's of the game, who bought it, will also need the update if they want to play it on the Intel Macintosh (it will not run under something later than Mac OS X 10.6 anyway !).

If it's EA, can we accept files *at all*?

I have added the German manual, the German demo version and the updater to v1.1.2 (Universal patch) that I found on this website.

And Aspyr released a Universal Binary patch for it in 2007. So it runs on Intel, and it's definitely not been abandoned long enough (or at all) for it to be hosted here. A shame because it's quite good.

But then it's not my call. If you really want it, it comes up all the time on eBay "new and sealed". in US and UK. You just need to spend a few dollars / pounds to get it. I thought not.

I fear you're mistaken about this one. According to some compatibility lists, Alice still runs under the latest Snow Leopard version. Also, it is still sold (http://www.ashshop.de/ashshop/ ) by the official (licenced) german mac game publisher. I don't know about other countries...

And I'm pretty sure the majority here doesn't think the Mac Garden is "useless" ...

Im pretty sure it's abandonware, it almost 10 years old and not licensed to be sold anywhere, secondly none of the current hardware today supports it. Hence, you should put the link back up, or this page is completely useless

I should really play this game. It's such a classic but I never bothered to play it. Now these days I'm a lot more interested to give it a try!

Sometimes some pics get displayed wrong. I had that too once, when a Pac Man Screenshot would suddenly pop up out of nowhere.

Anyway, are you sure this game is abandonware? If I'm informed correctly, this game is still for sale. (edit: German Mac Games Publisher ASH lists it as available for 25 Euro - please remove the links until the status changes. Thank you Smile)
