The color version of Battle Chess was released in several versions, this one likely being the last, v1.1 by MacPlay.

The disc's CD-Audio tracks are tied together with the game not only as background music, but as sound effects and voices tied to the animated graphics onscreen. Unless someone can find a way to mount and run the CD-Audio portion of a disc, the only way to properly run this is by burning it to a CD and running it from there. The hacked version found at Le Grenier du Mac results not only in missing audio but too-rapid animations.

I just made a note above that the D/L from max1zzz's server is a bin-cue image from which you can burn a mixed-mode CD that contains both game and audio tracks. I suspect that the Mega D/L is the same but I am not sure.

EDIT: I should add that my D/L on max's server is the upload originally made by MCP

To complete this package, add the manual found in Battle Chess (b/w version) to your collection
(The b/w version is also included in the Enhanced CD-ROM version) .

Audio CD partition has been added.
If you want to burn this on a CD-R, please be sure to burn CD-ROM partition first without finishing the CD, then add Audio CD partition starting with audio track 2, creating a mixed-mode CD-ROM.

Yes, if I were going to play this, I would go with the original monochrome version. I like to keep things simple, and I still find that little compact Mac monitor appealing.

Somehow I forgot to include the v1.1.1 update in the archive; I've added it as a separate file in the same folder as the StuffIt segments, if you click the external download link. I believe it's for improving compatibility with a few select PowerMac models.

Thanks MCP for uploading! I almost like the B/W version better, running fine with MiniVMac or Fusion_PC/DOSBox. The color version on the other hand, is good for my hardly used PPC7100.

I remember playing this on System 6 in black and white.

The Enhanced version directly? The 'Enhanced' CD version includes the original older b/w version as a bonus game as well.
