"Caesar II is set in the time of ancient Rome, and lets you try to be the next Caesar. You start with one province and have to build an efficient city. To do this you'll have to manage the water supply properly, make sure the city is policed well, and provide adequate education, entertainment, baths, and temples (which also hold your money and can be robbed if you don't have enough protection).
At some point, possibly more then once, you'll have to defend your province from invading tribes that don't really want you there. You also have to connect all the little villages in the province with roads and make some industry, like stone mining, grapes, etc. for which you can then create markets in your city.
When you have achieved the necessary requirements, you'll be able to start all over again in a new and more challenging province. Do well enough and you can become the new Caesar." --MobyGames.com

Not to be overlooked. Caesar III didn't replace this one; it's a different game. It runs very nicely in native 9.2.2 on my G4 Powerbook, taking advantage of the widescreen. Dedicating a gob of RAM (not just 50MB, but 500) kept the crashes away.
I got my hands on a CD, made a working archive, uploaded it and added a mirror link.
You're talking to the master of mounting and image making. I've tried it all on my classic macs, it doesn't work no matter what I use or how I re-make the disc image. It might work in emulators like Basilisk but I don't use those.
How are you mounting the image? I´ve experienced a difference depending on which application used to mount; Disk Utility/Toast/etc.
BTW; you don´t have to *burn* a new copy. Just 'Save as Disk Image'…
I've played around with the format; the game doesn't recognize that a CD image is mounted. And I'm not burning CDs.
I have been trying to find a way to make this work on my Performa 637CD or my 6290CD and they both won't start. I wouldn't mind buying a copy of this if I could find it, but when I search for it on evilbay I cannot find a copy for the Macintosh. Does anyone have any suggestions?
For those who want the original music and videos I found that if you create an .img file out of the Caesar 2 folder and then load the image and run the game that way you can have the best of both worlds.
Is there any way to slow it down? I tried adjusting the speed to 1, but it seems to have no effect.
It seems just that the system is too fast, when I try to adjust amount of plebes the amount will jump to 28 even if I just tap the mouse.
Tested and runs fairly well in Basilisk II running Mac OS 7.5.5. Just a few minor graphical problems spotted.
Edit: Replaced 'xxx 7' by 'Mac OS 7' - IIGS User
