A port of the original PlayStation game. Take a free-roaming drive through several cities or play through a mission structure. Unique feature: making and saving a movie chase scene of your own by editing playback with various camera angles.
A note about the downloads:
"As Tanner, you're going undercover to be the wheelman for a crime syndicate in order to break open a big case. On the way, you'll eliminate competition, drive getaway cars, scare some people silly, evade plenty of police, dodge bad guys, smash through a few windows, save your love interest, and much more through four cities (Miami, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and New York).
Perform authentic manuevers like donuts, 180 spin, 360 spin, reverse 180 spin, and more as you cut through alley ways, across sidewalks and parks, smash park benches and and drive over traffic cones. Many different cars to try (most you'll recognize). Will you save the day?
Also includes pratice modes such as Practice, Carnage (cause as much damage as you can), Dirt Track (time trials), Pursuit (you chase someone), Survival (4 super cops chase you), Lose the Cop (avoid that one cop on your back), and Drive About (just drive about the city and admire the scenery).
Game also includes a full director's mode, allowing you to place cameras to catch the best moments in the custom replay file." --MobyGames.com
CompatibilityNeeds a G3 with 128 MB and any ATI video, with Mac OS 8.6 minimum.

good game runs on my imac g3 600 mhz snow with 256 mb ram
Hi, recently I installed Driver on a G4 Digital Audio but when I try to run the game a message appears and says it can't run this application on classic. can you tell me step by step how you do it?
I have re-uploaded the full CD version that was here once before.
the game is working under OS 9.2.2 without problems - so far.
Is there a way to change the resolution to fit native 12" iBook display? Can´t find any settings in the option-menu, only settings for details and so sound and so on..
greetings
Elo
According to file name, which includes ".img", this must be a standard Disk Copy document, not a Toast document. But anyway, nice to read it works fine for you and maybe other peoples, too.
The toast works great in my iMac G3
Good. I noticed that the site had exceeded their goal in donations by over $300 and has quit taking donations, so that server should be coming along soon, I presume.
The full version is the one archived here, so it should become available then.
filipetolhuizen, if you're talking about the demo, I can provide it. Working links to the full version seem hard to come by. By the way, does anyone know whether Macintosh Garden's new server will make the full version downloadable from this website?
Is there another external link? I could only find the corrupt one.
This document shows you how to hack the demo using Script Editor:
http://docs.google.com/View?id=dd854vj9_0hszzpx
I found a link to the demo.
Its bittorent.
http://s3.amazonaws.com/macgarden/DriverDemo.img_.bin?torrentdamn... my comp can't handle it...
There's also an iPod Touch version of this game.
It's nice to know what it can run on, but can anyone make the darn thing available?
Driver can be run under OSX, with any recognized GPU/graphics card, through the Classic environment and this extension;
http://macglide.sourceforge.net/
Can´t guarantee this on anything 'newer', ie G5s and such. Did this on my G4 AGP, Radeon9800 and Tiger IIRC with success.
The PC version is small, and runs on the lowliest hardware graphics out there. I have played a perfect 1024x768 game on an integrated Intel i810, and also a Riva TNT. This will run on 3DfX Voodoo as well. I believe it can run on OLD macs using PCI Voodoo or Voodoo II cards. There are lots of Voodoo II patches out there for Mac games.
Bump for great justice! and for a link
I had no idea this game was ported - I still play the original under WinXP, and it is amazing (considering when it was made!)
When will it be available for download? Any other links I can use? From my experience, most seem to be broken.
Hi, just today I managed to set free time to do it.
IIGS User, how is this coming? Do you need any help? Where were you trying to upload it?
Take your time; it is better to do it right than to do it quickly. That's your fortune cookie for today!
Oops! My fault...
I've checked the CD after reading your comment - The installer itself consists of 80 MB, the CD includes a lot of invisible files (checked with TinkerTool's option - 'Show hidden files').
I've fast-checked the plain installer (w/o CD inserted) in Classic Environment -> It will install successful.
Because Classic Environment tells 'This Application or Control Panel isn't compatible to Classic', I will check the plain Installer with my PowerBook Pismo/Mac OS 9.2 soon.
Where are you uploading it? 400+MB is too big for the site, isn't it?
Driver Mac.cdr.sit = 436 MB
Driver Mac.cdr.zip = 470 MB
How big is the file?
After a few times to try this game to get uploaded, three hours later again:
(.cdr.sit, I will try a .cdr.zip later)

Received it, will upload it within the next days.
Not compatible with SheepShaver, runs on real Mac OS 8.6/9.x hardware only
because of its need of a 3D accelerator card...
Sweet 16, the IIGS emulator.
Sweet! Thanks, IIGS User.
Got it today!
Still waiting for shipping…
I placed a bid.
Yes, that is the one. The great thing about it was not only could you drive around and dodge the police, but afterward you could make a very cinematic car-chase movie of the game you just played! Just imagine playing a movie chase like "Bullitt" or "The French Connection." I played this alot on my PlayStation when it was new.
Do you mean this one?

Althought the seller offers no shipping, the buyer have to travel to the location to get the item,
but he offer to talk about shipping costs, too.
If the seller accepts my offer to pay shipping costs, I could place a bid.
Five days left...
I've seen the CD for dirt cheap on eBay before, but since the demo didn't run well on my hardware, I never bought it. And I'd owned the PlayStation version anyway!
