As concepts go, Gridz is quite unique. Lead an army of toolbots against the CPU AI or some chums over Appletalk
A fast paced strategy/domination game, your playing field is 'netspace'. To conquer, you will need the help of the builder bots to extend your territory, Hacker bots to destroy the territorial gains of your rivals and strikers to lash out at opposing toolbots to slow their progress down. Same here. The more I look at this site, the more I am convinced I need an emulator.
In an effort to stop the requests, here is the single-player serial for Gridz.
I had to wait months for this, so hopefully this might help some of you out.
I haven't tested this personally yet, but it should work with 1.2 and 1.5.

Yes, I sent them an email to that adress and kindly asked for a serial key. I'm fully willing to donate, but I would like to be able to play the game first

What I did was donate and then request a serial key. You did send the email to sales (at) mutantegg.com correct?
I would be forever thankful if someone could message or email me a gridz serial key which gives access to the single player game.
The posted serial is only for network play. I have sent a message to Green Dragon Creations but no response so far.
You should probably contact the author and ask for help about your serial number.
I've used Gridz 1.5 under Mac OS X Tiger and it works. (Except for music, which seems to have disappeared in 1.5 for both 9.x & X)
I just downloaded the OS X version and got a serial from greendragon. After entering the serial, I can't play the single user part of the game. Yellow text on the bottom informs me I am only allowed to do network play. How can I play single user?

I just started playing this game today on sheepshaver and it brought back so many great memories of the old G3
If you look in the 'Movies' folder in the 'Gridz data', you can see 'Builder 6 Movie', 'Striker 6 Movie', and 'Striker 7 Movie' ('Striker 7 Movie' is Boss, but 'Striker 5 Movie' is something else!) Aren't there only 5 toolbots in each category

Does anybody have any idea what these are?! I remember that my dad showed them to me ages ago and he said something about them being in a future update or something? I really suggest you look at them; they're very strange toolbots that aren't acknowledged anywhere in the game.
I've found the 1.5.1 updater which adds OSX support...
but it's no use without a serial.
The one listed here works for 1.4, but even the 1.5 Readme file confirms that all previous serials only work as "Network Serial Numbers"
I can't even pay for the software if I wanted to, the URL in the Readme no longer works!
And so.. a generic facepalm can be asserted in my direction... like that time I searched for Tanaka about 5 years too late. Heh. I forgot to lock the .img file. That's right. It was that simple.
So in the Future, for anyone using this game in sheepshaver, REMEMBER, The .IMG needs to be LOCKED (in Mac OS X) BEFORE you mount it in Sheepshaver. Otherwise the game won't read the disk.
(PS.. the .img is still damaged is OS X, but it shouldn't be a problem.)

I would like to suggest that it is a Sheepshaver incompatibility but i never worked out how to use it so i can't check
Firstly, thanks so much for putting this up. I love this game to death.
Sadly though, I seem to have a problem. After putting in the serial, which is more or less accepted, the game asks that I put the "Gridz CD" in the drive, despite the fact that I already have it mounted in Sheepshaver. To add to the mystery, whenever I try to mount the .img in Mac OS X after mounting it in Sheepshaver, I get the "invalid Checksum" error. However, even though the game would mount in Mac OS X prior to being mounted in Sheepshaver, I still got the "this disk image may be damaged" warning.
I'm pretty much convinced the disk image is sadly, somehow corrupt.

The v1.3.1 Demo version is on Tucows. Any use ?
Tucows is probably the best of all the Mac patch sites for actually hosting the download files themselves, up to a certain size.
