i loved this game back in the day though - great to be able to play it again. if you're on a pc, don't forget to specify macbinary 2 when copying in hfvexplorer, letting it decide automatically doesn't work.
Yeah, think you nailed it, or it came on a bootable disk and was meant to be at the top level directory to run. Could be it can't handle folder names with spaces or non-alphanumeric characters. There are still games to like this.
I ran this game on both a real vintage Mac Plus w/external hard drive and minivMac with system 6.0.8. On the Mac Plus the game freezes while loading when the application (icon) is located _inside_ a directory. The game runs just fine when the icon is located at the same level as the system folder. No such problem on minivMac. Since the game is so old - 1984 - could that be an MFS issue, i.e. the game would not know how to handle a true file hierarchy?
Anybody experienced the same thing?
Great game, I spent a lot of nights over it in early '80 on my 512 mac!!! good old times
