Comments
Too bad: when the level on the space station is completed, it crashes at the end of the scene in the shuttle (next level).
Even after a restart, the game keeps crashing at the same point.
(iMac G4 with OS X 10.0.4.11, 768MB memory)
I've ordered a 2GB memory kit for my "iLamp", we'll see if this is related to the available memory.
I found a product key on a site. I tested the key and it worked. I am going to edit the page and adding the product key to the page.
I have it running perfectly well on my PowerMac G4 with 10.5.8 - it's not a very well optimized port though so you'll want all the memory you can get. I'm running it with 2gb and a 128mb ATI Radeon 9600.
Any word on this still running OK on OS X 10.5.8 PPC ?
Or will I need the universal binary?
Set the game resolution to something like 640x480. When I would set the game to 1400x900 for my Macbook Pro it would glitch on the load screen.
Okay so redownloaded, unstuffed it, reinstalled it, and I still can't get past a part in the game. It keeps crashing after it goes to load the next level. (When Cortana talks about being able to teleport you to some place, and he says he's not going to like it)
I've tried unstuffing the Sit file on a few different computers with different versions of OS X and Stuffit Expander and on every one the loading bar goes all the way to full after a little while, and then it just hangs there for hours without ever unzipping anything...
I'll redownload and try again.. slow internet is slow..
can someone give me a CD key for halo cuse i don't have one
c´mon!
Are you serious?
google it!
Umm... Product key?
This hint maybe has been taken from the publisher's games description, to announce this game doesn't run in classic Mac OS versions.
Why does it say "Cannot run in Classic mode"? It doesn't even NEED to run on OS 9 or any classic Mac OS. I've been playing this natively on OS X Tiger without Classic running.
A flippn Key???
Hey Durandalia...
when i see cptn keyes uniform wearing the marathon sign, and telling that masterchief has to carry on and deal with some AI... (not again...) i was expecting durandal and tycho to appear too...
Don't worry Durandalia, it merely helps you to weed out the longtime Bungie fans from the "noob" masses!
For real though, it's great to see how Halo has developed and IMO fleshed out the universe that began with Marathon. In a way I'm grateful for the acquisition by MS because I don't think Bungie could have taken the universe to the same level of depth on their own (mostly because there would not have been as many games in the Halo series).
It breaks my heart when I think of how many people don't know that Halo's origins lie very distinctly within the U.E.S.C Marathon.
what is the product key?
@Balrog:
Everyone: I may have to delete irrelevant posts.
--Balrog and the admins
@TataMisia: I know Polish well enough. But this is an English site, so we should use English. If you don't know it that well, just do your best.
When you post on an English board, you must know English.
When your polish be like my english. I will start to learn english.
Tatamisia,
I don't want you to go. But it would be good if you work on your English so everybody will be able to understand your posts. WordReference is a good place to start.
http://forum.wordreference.com/
Scroll down for the Polish forum.
I don't understand... or it is a joke.
Who undestand Polish language here?! You?
TataMisia, you should try posting in your native language sometimes. There may be others who speak it and can help you with translation. The forums and comments do not have to be English-only.
You not understand my intention.
I say: " I CAN make changes".
You hear: "only I can changes"!
Yes, my english is very bad.
English is not my nationaly language.
I know a few languages, but english - worrest.
If my english is very much problem for you , I can stop write at this portal.
Aaah... This guy writes so bad I barely understand his posts. In that case, Tatamisia:
Halo your upload
BUT
Changes are not yours
Changes are to everyone
What's wrong with the screenshots?
Why you not delete my new screens? Be free...
Halo. Its my upload. I can make changes...
Fixed. Is it worth writing a mini-guide about this problem? It's very common, but I doubt people bother to read the guides at all.
When quoting something in the description there should definitely be a link or some kind of note about its source.
Wouldn't it be better to write a real description than just copying and pasting part of someone else's review? A link to the review could, of course, be added.
For PowerPC Macs, yes it is.
On a related note, I just remembered that Unseen 64 has an article about Halo before Microsoft:
http://www.unseen64.net/2008/04/16/halo-xbox-concept-proto-beta/
The screenshots with "proto" at the end are from the MacWorld demo. The ones with "alpha" are from the original concept, a Myth rip-off called Armor.
To the best of my knowledge, neither one of those two builds have ever surfaced on the web, but there is always hope.
Is this really abandonware?
No, it doesn't work on Mac OS 9. I'm going to remove that comment right away.
does this really work for mac os 9???? lemme no coz i dont wanna download sumfing that doesnt work
nicee........ Halo 2 screenshot good job!
Just try it.
Under SpeepShaver not work. Installed OK, but when run - show message about error and need OpenGL
Just grabbed the package of my original Halo and it says "minimum Mac OS 10.2.8". And I bought my version back in the days when it just got shipped (when I had gotten my state-of-the-art iMac G4 with Panther on it ...ah, sweet memories
)
Anyway, I think MacWise is right - and if you think about the year it was released and the fact that Apple had OS 9 abandoned by 2002, it seems pretty uncertain there was a Mac OS Classic edition...
Halo for Mac OS 9?
Maybe the beta they showed on Macworld 1999 ran on Mac OS 9, and even though, that version was made just for the show. Back when Bungie was developing Halo, there was no OpenGL for the Mac so they developed it for the x86 platform. It wasn't until a week before the expo that Apple released the OpenGL libraries and Bungie spent that time porting the game to the PowerPC in a hurry. If I recall correctly, the demo itself was made on the plane to New York.
