Hearts of Iron is a grand strategy computer game developed by Paradox Interactive and published by Strategy First, set in the years 1936-1948. In the game you can control any one nation as World War II unfolds.
Gameplay revolves around surviving (either before or during) World War II, and the player may cause or witness events different from how they historically occurred. Hearts of Iron is considered an alternate history game.
System Requirements:
Mac OS 9.2.2 or 10.1
PPC G3 CPU with 333 MHz
128 MB RAM
8x CD-ROM drive
The much improved Hearts of Iron 2 and the recently released Hearts of Iron 3 are both still available from Virtual Programming. If you like Hearts of Iron 1, you should give these enhanced versions a try.

Runs fine under OS 9.2.2. Is supposed to support (early) OS X versions as well, though couldn't test it yet. Also, if I remember right this version was german language only. Please feel free to add an english language.

Protect the environment! Use no cd patches! Like the one I just uploaded to here. It's a .dmg, so it'll probably only work with OSX. Just mount it and start. Tested to work fine on 10.4, won't work on Leopard and above though.
