The first time I played this game was when I borrowed a CD with Mac shareware from my local library. It's fun in that it's a challenge to avoid the oil rigs and kamikaze MiGs. It's just a shame that we can't shoot those bloody MiGs down. 16 colours can be a bitch, but hey my Performa 475 handled it fine and isn't that what classic gaming is about? As far as I remember there's a little 'progress bar' below the screen which shows your chopper's position. I've never actually reached the end (game's waaaaay too difficult!) but the game's decent enough. Something to pick up and play when you haven't got anything else to do, but the frustration will soon kick in when you get rammed by MiGs time after time...

Just to correct my previous submission about this game. You *can* in fact shoot down the MiGs (and destroy anything else you fancy at that) with an unlimited supply of missiles goes to show how long I haven't played this game for! I downloaded it recently for a bit of nostalgia, I agree, the mouse control's *real* bad.

Compatibility
Architecture: 68k

Requires monitor set to 16 colors exactly.

I used to play this game on a IIfx back in the day.

The differences: 1) the sound of shooting missiles, artillery, jets, exploding objects etc worked. 2) when you open the About box, there was a recording of the author saying "The biggest unanswered question is 'Where is the money?'".

IIRC there was also a cheat for this game. You pressed or did something and then you pressed some key to add an additional helicopter. Here it is: During the game, type "cheat", then press the "1" key to add an additional helicopter. Or two. Or three. Or 28. Or, you know.

I should set about seeing if I can track down a more original copy.

EDIT: There is version 1.0.2 on the BMUG PD-ROM B3. I tried 1.0.2 on the floundering 2300cTB and still doesn't work quite right. There's also supposed to be a "Oh man game over!" when you fail the game...

Although Iraq Attack works with Basilisk II and Sheepshaver, it is too fast to be playable. A solution is to run it with Fusion 3.0 under DOSBox. See the emaculation forum post here: http://www.emaculation.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6656&sid=758cba85c5467e1bf104fa5505dff253
