King's Bounty is a turn-based fantasy computer and video game designed by Jon Van Caneghem of New World Computing in 1990. The game follows the player's character, a hero of King Maximus, appointed with the job of retrieving the Sceptre of Order from the forces of chaos, led by Arech Dragonbreath. King's Bounty is notably considered the forerunner of the Heroes of Might and Magic series of games.
CompatibilityI loved this game. It was good fun, and the graphics were really bright, colourful and clear. I had it working perfectly in Classic under OSX.1.2 - just switch the colour to 256 first of all. - istara
Two disk images included: one with manual-based copy protection, one without. Tested and working with Mini vMac, and on a G3 Pismo running 9.2.2 (set to 256 colors.)

I remember playing this gem back on my Amiga 500 in 1992 or so. Spent hours on it. The mixture of strategy, role-playing and action elements was very unique and I find the game to be very enjoyable today. The copy protection is quite annoying as the game runs full-screen and you need to have the pdf (see downloads) open to type in the requested word. Crackers, where are you?
Other than that, I confirm that it works fine on my PowerMac 7100/80. I don't know what I do different from the user that issued the compatibility problems. I run it in 256 colors and on OS 7.6.1, so that might be the reason?
