Lost Souls is a new take on the game of chess. Instead of being set on a checkered board, the game is played on a series of floating islands. Each side start on its own island, which may have one or more guard towers. Movement is still turn-based but unlike chess, each side can move all its pieces in a single turn. In addition to that each side can produce new units or built bridges at the expense of mana points. Bridges are used to reach other islands where there can be additional towers.
Capturing neutral towers gives ten additional mana points per turn while capturing enemy towers also reduces the enemy's mana intake by ten points. But the goal of the game is not to take over the towers. The goal instead is to take over enemy territory, marked by a color-coded dotted line. Once there is no longer a single square controlled by the enemy, the game is over and you move onto the next level. There are sixty levels in total.
Because Spiderweb Software is best know for its RPG titles, and because Lost Souls use elements often found in RPGs, people tend to believe this game belongs to that genre.
This is version 1.0. The game is already registered but the registration code is included in case you accidentally select De-register from the Registration menu. Other games by Richard White are Galactic Core and Ocean Bound.

I still love it, but you're right, abused.
Carl Orff (composer) only died in 1982, so I was a bit shocked when I heard Duel of the Fates from SW: Episode 1, it has a very similar "look and feel".
I searched google and came up with nothing but pay sites. However I did note the LostSouls.sea.hqx file name from fileplanet and googled it. Nothing again. Searched again through yahoo and found a reference on a French site. Eureka! Merci!
Is that the name of that piece? I always identify it with the movie because that was the first time I heard it. It's been re-used and abused in things like TV ads and the occasional sitcom, so I have grow to dislike it.
you mean O Fortuna from Carmina Burana ? I hope it's a good recording ....
Great game. I would have rated it "Amazinling Brilliant" but the music (the very loud theme from the movie Excalibur) and the less-than-descriptive forrest photo put me off. But this game is from the same guy who did Ocean Bound so I gave it a chance and I liked it.
moof,
you star !!
