I have solved my problem on my own lol.......I deleted the Max payne preferance file from the library.......Restarted the game......and it workssssssssss!!!!!!!!!!
If you mean the no-cd patch, we can't help. It's not really needed.
Trash the app, re-install, do not apply the no-cd patch and read all the posts from this thread from the bottom up.
I have a problem with my game....I applied the patch...whenever I open the game it show me the dialog box of max payne.....and when i click on play button it says me ..."Program Message-You have to select a platform from the max payne dialog box"....I m struck at that desperately...Pls can anyone help me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
once again... is UP!
I made a mini-image from the zipped toast file linked in the main post. It's only 64k and seems to satisfy the game's CD requirement (I just launched it and resumed an early save). Saves a load of space
Just lock the iso and mount with Toast. Tested in 10.6.8. Should work in OS 9 too if you would prefer to not use the patch.

I also went one step further and no-cd patched the game in Sheepshaver with the old (Mac OS) patcher. Then used iPatch to make a OS X-compatible patch. I've added it to the main post.
lock the disc image and mount it with Toast. Then Play.
The site is about preserving old Mac software, running it under emulation is about as far as any of us want to get involved in this sort of thing. This is not a warez site. Every time someone asks for a hack or patch to make an un-runnable application run we'll bend over backwards to help. But, every time someone asks for an unofficial patch to circumvent their reluctance to either burn a physical CD or mount a locked disc image, every one of the sites main contributors cringe. Every time someone fulfills that request, we all give up a little more of that effort that makes up send our time and money in supporting the site and its library.
I bought this game, and I still don't need a no-cd patch t play it.
Hi, I need the OSX nocdpatch.
Double-Click the game icon.
Immediately hold down Option/Alt and D
You get a dialog box allowing you to set all the video options.
Mac Payne picture is on the top-left
Click it.
Thanks for your answer! The picture on the right in the main menu? If I do, nothing happens. Do you press & hold option (alt) + D before you start the game or after it started?
I don't get the beep either. But you should get the dialog box with all the video options.
Click on the pic of Max Payne.
Did anyone actually get cheats to work with this game? The apple game website (http://www.apple.com/games/articles/2002/07/maxpayne/) says you need to press and hold option + D while startup. I've done so but no developer mode box nor "beep" comes up as mentioned.
That's a pity, because I am totally stuck at that Jack Lupino shootout scene and it's so incredibly hard. I've been spending over one hour now and there seems to be no way I can make it. Since my time is limited, I'd appreciate if anyone with experience in using cheats with Max Payne could give me a hint on how to activate them. Thanks
