This is an early version (5.4) of Bridge Baron, a game currently available (version 21) for Windows and OS X at the Great Game Products website.
In a review of three Bridge games including Bridge Deluxe with Omar Sharif and BridgeMaster, The Macintosh Bible Guide to Games had this to say about Micro Bridge Companion:
"Great Game Products supplies us with the unlikely winner of the bridge sweepstakes. You might expect one of the titles from the large publishing houses to be at the pinnacle of bridge gaming, but MBC comes out on top by a full point in every category. It's laid out with the suits separated so that the hands are easy to count, and the cards are small but crisp and easy to read when the large setting is engaged. It allows you to review bidding at any time as well as to replay or rotate hands. An excellent scorecard explains the scores clearly.
MBC offers the choice of rubber bridge, duplicate or 'special' hands, for example, avoiding an overruff and picking the right suit. The help system is also exemplary, supplying info on such matters as bidding, play, and scoring, as well as flow charts to help beginners make decisions. Another excellent feature is the statistics card, which keeps track of bidding and tricks. The game seemed to include a greater number of unevenly distributed hands, which makes for more sophisticated bidding and playing. The bottom line is that MBC offers the best artificial intelligence of the three contenders, and it has an acceptable interface. These make for a superior and more enjoyable bridge experience."
