Intel trick (OS X 10.5.Cool

Launch once, then instantly quit. Launch again and it will be WAY more stable (ie: it will not crash after 3 minutes).

I also copied the latest update support files from the PC version (2 revisions higher), and it certainly seemed more solid under Leopard/Intel.
