"Spaceship Warlock was an adventure game created by Mike Saenz and Joe Sparks. The game featured arcade action and interactive dialogue, which enabled the player to type whatever he chose. The game was released in 1991 for the Macintosh and in 1994 for Windows. It was graphically ahead of its time and acquired a cult following. The game was a first person adventure set in a sci-fi future, in which the protagonist is captured by space pirates led by Captain Hammer, whom he ultimately joins. The protagonist, namely, the player of the game, then goes on to battle and ultimately overthrow the evil Kroll empire and restore freedom to the galaxy.

Spaceship Warlock was one of the earliest & best-known multimedia CD-ROM games to combine all original animation, story, music, & game play. Spaceship Warlock is widely considered a pioneering work, and it received many awards and honors, including the "Game of the Year" award from Macworld magazine.

Captain Hammer, an eyepatch-wearing space pirate and revolutionary leader, is aesthetically a blatant nod to Nick Fury. Some of the game's outer space scenes are reminiscent of the art of Chesley Bonestell." --Wikipedia.org

Runs for me in Basilisk on 7.6, but without sound. Could be the OS, but Basilisk doesn't seem to handle 8-bit sound well. Still playable.

A few others came into my head when I read this and saw the image, both real-life characters:
Israeli General Moshe Dayan,
French General Paul Aussaresses.

At least, Star Trek VI General Chang was based on these guys.

This game rocked. I've been trying to get my hands on it, but it's difficult all the way over here in Oz. Paying shipping from Amazon would be waaaaay too much money. Any ideas about where else we can find it? Torrents are all dry.

Tried this on my PowerBook 540c with Mac OS 7.1.1 and the sound worked, though I had to open the Sound control panel and reduce the sound quality to 8-bit and 22khz.

Edit: Replaced 'xxx 7' by 'Mac OS 7' - IIGS User

Thanks! Can't wait to try it out. I seem to recall Mike Saenz worked on this game; I think he did a comics construction set or something like that in the early days of mac.
