In the distant future, six races discover the secret of the leap-drive and begin to explore space. Each race has its own advantages and disadvantages, culture and science, and each is competing for the resources of a few dozen worlds...decide if you'll be a conqueror or a diplomat. Lead your ships through combat as a tactician or let them control themselves. Spend years developing the industrial and technological base of your homeworlds, or lead ground combat assaults to pillage and enslave weaker worlds. Develop an ecological balance between your colonist and the worlds they live on, or pollute the world and move on. Whether you are the President of the Human confederation of planets, or the YXaWk high-priest, you are in charge of your race's destiny, and no else cares if your life form survives.
After the successful release of Starbound in 1994, we received numerous suggestions for how to expand it. The result, we added them all! After six years of blood sweat and tears, we believe Starbound II to be the most comprehensive strategy game ever made. In our quest to make Starbound II all things to all people, each feature can be turned on or off allowing complete tailoring of your playing experience. Try it, you'll like it!
The second download is version 1.0.0 with the expansion pack installed. It contains 6 races, 4 AI types, and a full manual. If the game won't start without the "Movies" folder, just create an empty "Movies" folder in the main directory, and it should work just fine.
The third (archived) download is the full CD, version 1.0.1, in ShrinkWrap format. Since it's too big for the Garden to offer directly, here's a mirror:
An archive of PsiScape's website is preserved here.

Comments
Registration details are now on the page. Still no luck with the troop videos.
Do you know how to get ahold of the developer I would like to get the registration so I can play the full version.
Does anyone know how I can get the registration for Starbound 2 ?
I find that the troop videos don't load. It seems that the file names are different from what the game searches for. If anyone has got these videos to work, I'd be grateful if you could provide the file name.
Ahh nothing like having peace of mind!
Thanks macjames. The clue you gave is version 3.5.1 of ShrinkWrap. That works for me too. I was using version 2.1 before and that would not mount the image
let me trace back my steps, and retest the file. I remember testing it before uploading it. The image is intact as i got it back in 2000. I don't know why people preferred shrinkwrap to diskcopy back then. Have you tried dragging the .img over stuffit expander? That also works for me when mounting images. In any case just to make sure the file didn't go bad when uploading could you compare your md5 with this?
MD5 (Starbound II.img) = a612c13a6d98d382aab28a00acdb18c7
edit: Ok i just installed from zero a G4 with Macos9.2.2, installed the shrinkwrap 3.51 available here at the garden, dobleclick the image and it mounts ok. Could you make the above verification?
Hi macjames
When I unzip your upload, I cannot get your img file for version 1.0.1 to be recognised by either DiskCopy or Toast, under Mac OS 9 or X. Can anyone else mount this img file?
Edit: And ShrinkWrap does not work for me either
I have a full, registered CD of this game in the closet somewhere, I forget what version. I will try to create an uploadable CD image with my good ol' G3. Beware it is going to be large. As I recall, the entire CD contents are needed to play the game, including sounds, music, and movies, just about the full 600 Mb worth. Give me a few weeks to work it out.
BTW, one of the very kewl things about this game is customizable AI! You can actually fine tune the behavior of your computer opponents if (in the unlikely event) you find them too easy. Though I never tried this, you could actually just watch a game with the AI's of your creation and see who comes out on top.
Has anyone heard from the original developer? I heard a couple of years ago he would just give you a CD of this game if you asked politely.
You can fix the problem with sound not working in sheepshaver by disabling the "Apple Audio Extension". Then it seems to work
The sound might work on a different ROM (I found my copy of Sheepshaver works with sound on) or you could have to access the "hidden" sound panel in the Apple Extras folder (in 8.5/8.6).
I can't get this to run in sheepshaver - it gives me an error: "error in sound init"
For whatever reason, sound doesn't work with my install of sheepshaver, so I usually need to turn off sound for games to work. Does anyone know how I can either get my sound working in sheepshaver, or disable the sound in starbound before it even launches?
