A remake (originally for the Atari Jaguar) of the classic 1981 Atari arcade game by Dave Theurer.
"Tempest 2000 is a remake/upgrade of the popular Atari vector graphics-based shooter.
Blast your way through over 100+ levels, shooting the creatures that come out from the other side of the web to drag you in. Collect power-ups (jump, AI robots and more) to trippy graphics and colorful explosions as a thumping techno-house soundtrack blasts in the background.
Collect enough bonuses, and be subjected to two different types of bonus rounds as you navigate through rings, or try to ride a spiral tube.
Also included in the gameplay is an intense two-player mode to team up with or go head to head against another player, or even play a version of the original arcade game. There are four modes of gameplay in all: Traditional Tempest, Tempest Duel, Tempest Plus and Tempest 2000." --MobyGames.com
CompatibilityRequires Mac OS 7.5.3, 256 colors, and PPC.

Arashi is an instant classic - It is one of the first games I install on any system.
Tempest2000 is a remake (like arashi is) that has better graphics, sound, music, levels etc.
I actually like Space Giraffe better than both, but it can be a bit psychadelic.
How is this different from Arashi ?
I never knew this was ported to the Mac. I was floored when I tried it and now I really want to find the full version. I would gladly buy it if I could find it. This plays great even on my 6100, but it really needs the music (not present in this demo).
Edit: Whoops! Nevermind that comment. Looks like this IS the full version. So from where on earth did I download the demo a few days ago??? I've not gotten games from anywhere but here in recent times. Hmmm.
Is this the latest version? I ask this, because the author is known for frequent (and useful) updates.
