This first edition of 'The Darwin CD-ROM', also known as 'Darwin On Disc', includes (on an hybrid CD-ROM for PC and Mac) Charles Darwin's complete texts of The voyage of the Beagle, The origin of species, The descent of man, and 1859 manuscript outlining the theory of evolution by Darwin and Alfred Russel Wallace. Also includes Alfred Russel Wallace's Triumph of the Darwinian method, the timeline of Darwin's life, original maps from The voyages of HMS Beagle and HMS Adventure, a bibliography of over 1000 primary and secondary references, and illustrations from "Zoology of the voyage of the HMS Beagle".

Hybrid CD-ROM for PC & Mac.

Basilisk likes to crash when you quit DiscPassage up to version 1.4.5, but works fine otherwise.
To get the CD-ROM recognized by DiscPassage, you may need to write-protect it, either in your host operating system or within the emulated Mac OS system.

I would expect some graphics on this CD-ROM, but can't find any.

Okay, the graphics are hidden in the 'Related Items' menu (older versions: 'Document' menu) of the DiscPassage application
(DOS version: Press F9 to see a 'Figures' list, if available. Look the bottom line of the screen for available Fn keys)

Works fine with Mac OS 6 up to 9.2, including Classic Environment, but
Mini vMac may require a separate CD driver software installed, if you plan to mount .cdr images like this one within Mac OS 6 or 7.

Mac OS 7.5, installed within Mini vMac, mounts CD-ROMs fine w/o the need of separate CD driver software.
