You have just been informed that someone in MI-5 (the British internal intelligence) is a traitor with plans to steal the British Crown Jewels. In order to trap the suspect, you are to sneak into Tower of London, bypass all the security, and REPLACE all the authentic jewels with traceable replicas, WITHOUT the British knowing anything!
The game is best described as "Myst meets Thief". Move through the Tower of London, avoid guards and security alarms, and solve the different puzzles (how to deactive the alarms and such without any one noticing).
From MobyGames:
Essential read before doing anything with this download!
This game installs with default settings to Swedish language and texts. It also comes with a bug giving at least three Sound files playing simultanously under the intro video where you´re breefed with your mission in the game. Here´s how to set things straight from the beginning:
After install and before running for the first time, do the following two things:
– Install file 'scripts.cxt' from archive 'Traitors_Gate_SW_Patch.sit'; ie drag into the folder 'Traitors Gate' on your hard disk and click 'Yes' to exchange/overwrite the installed file. This solves the bug with duplicate Sound in intro/mission breefing.
– Copy the files in the archive 'locale.sit' into the folder 'locale' in the same folder where TG was installed, ie 'Traitors Gate folder'. Click 'yes' to replace some files.
– Now to the (unfortunate) persons who doesn´t read/speak Swedish; open the file 'Lingo.ini' in the folder 'Traitors Gate'. Edit 'set gLanguage = "Sv" into 'set gLanguage = "En"', close and save. You can also set 'Du' for Dutch version. Anything else here defaults to Dutch text and sound.
– To be sure and/or if you did run w/o applying the two steps above; delete any content in the folder 'Prefs' in 'Traitors Gate folder'.
Note:
After tinkering with this installation my conclusion is there´s three language versions; Swedish, English and Dutch.
Feel free to add information here if there´s more languages to find!
Oh, and be sure to run this in 256 Colour. Else you can't see the Video clips, at least not under emulation in SheepShaver, as it seems.

Comments
At the moment my game collection is unaccessible, but here´s a link to a DL which *might*, as in 'I haven´t tested this myself', contain complete disk images; http://3dsl.game-host.org/adventure/game/5330
NB: the site is Win oriented. There´s seldom any comment in the game list that a game is a Hybrid version or not. And there´s a chance available 'ISO Demo' is Rip. Good luck!
TG2.toast.sit and TG4.toast.sit are no longer available.
Please be so kind to make these 2 available again.
Great!
I had somewhere a faint memory of poking around in the installation, when the game was new, in order to find 'extras', but I can´t remember what I should pick up when I go to the grocery's.
Looks like we got there SwedeBear! No more lock-up when I enter the White Tower.
Ok Protocol 7: found a (working) solution. Instructions updated with a set of language files to drop in 'locale' folder in installed setup. Also found three working language versions in this installation: Swedish(English/Dutch.
If there´s time give me some feedback on this as I´m only temporary in the 'correct' environment.
HTH!
Afraid I´m not on 'playable turns' until the weekend, so my only choice is emulation. At the moment. :/ I´ll se if I can access something real before but… Anyone else tried to run this?
No joy. Even deleting that file it still locks up when I enter the White Tower at the start. Instead of loading the QTVR movie so I can look around the room I'm just stuck facing the wall with a "Move" cursor.
I've reinstalled from scratch, changed the entry in lingo.ini, deleted the empty saved_games folder and the prefs folder containing the res_pref.txt file but it still won't work in English. In Swedish it runs fine. Will it load OK for you in English?
For every change in 'LINGO.INI' you must delete the file 'res_pref.txt'. Else the change will not take effect and, as you describe; the games GUI locks up. Try set 'LINGO.INI' to 'EN', delete 'res_pref.txt' and run the game.
I might have spoken too soon when I said it's working fine. Once I get past the briefing, mouse input no longer works. I thought it was a Sheepshaver bug, but my iMac is doing the same. I can't move/look or click on any of the onscreen icons. If I hit Command+Q nothing happens when I click on the Cancel or Quit buttons. Hitting Esc will then quit the game.
If I revert lingo.ini back to Swedish, it runs fine. I've also tried without copying over the fixed scripts.cxt file and it still freezes if the language is set to English. So I think this is only playable in Swedish.
Great to here Protocol 7!
BTW if you change 'LINGO.INI' you´ll have to delete 'res_pref.txt' each time. At least when I fiddled around in SS any change didn´t take effect until that file was cleared.
Might have a go myself with languages…
Edit:
Found some language codes for the 'LINGO.INI'
Sv = Swedish
En = English
De = German
Du = Dutch
Must have a closer look at the game disk and installation files.
Thanks for the fixes SwedeBear. It works fine now
I tried setting De, Ger, Fr etc in Lingo.ini but Swedish and English seem to be the only languages available in this version.
Video seems to work better for me in milions of colours in SheepShaver (8.6/QT4.1.2) but if I quit the game and try to relaunch it locks up SheepShaver. Nothing surprising there though, as it's horrendously crash-happy. I'll be playing this on the iMac I think

– to be sure; delete any content in the folder 'Prefs' in 'Traitors Gate folder'. There shouldn´t be any but if you ran the game initially in (glorious) Swedish mode, there will be a 'res_pref.txt' which will point into Swedish language.
Oh, and be sure to run this in 256 Colour. Else you can't see the Video clips, atleast not under emulation in SheepShaver, as it seems. HTH!
Thanks SwedeBear. I downloaded the three discs you've upped so far but it looks like this is a Swedish language version of the game
