Orville is my favorite parlor trick for unsuspecting strangers. Orville makes your computer act as an assistant for a mysterious demonstration of Artificial Intelligence (in other words, "Mentalism" with fancy new packaging). Orville uses some old tricks from Mentalism routines from the turn of the century and is quite effective at fooling unsuspecting victims that your computer can read their minds. The documentation explains how to operate it and how the tricks work. A little practice is required. Use Orville and get that AI research grant you've been wanting!

Syd is a music synthesis program in which you can "patch" modules together with patch cords to produce interesting sounds.

I wrote Syd so I could reproduce some of the sounds produced by the Buchla 200 analog synthesizer I used to play with at CalArts in the early 80's. It has since evolved into an interesting computer-music tool in its own right.

Cheese Toast II: Son of Cheese Toast

From the author:
CheeseToast is a Maelstrom/Asteroids-inspired game I wrote to teach myself
how to do sprite-movement on the Macintosh. I hope you like it. Feel free to
replace the sprites and/or sounds.

CheeseToast II is an update of the original game that features faster sprite
movement, a scrolling star field, radar, and larger and more interesting bad guys.

From the author:
A tongue-in-cheek asteroids-like game I wrote back in 1991 to learn a little about sprite programming. If you look really closely, you'll see my head (circa 1991 with a little more hair!) floating around in space.

Please see the sequel: Cheese Toast II: Son of Cheese Toast
