Swamp Gas is an educational and fun way for your family or classroom to learn all about the geography of The United States of America.

Your mission is to help Swamp Gas, the lovable alien, explore the geography of the USA. Visit all the states, capitals, and points of interest. Discover interesting facts during "close encounters".

After each geography mission, you can enter the Alien Arcade and play one of three different non-violent arcade games.

Deliverance

A platformer in the same line as Castlevania but with a much lighter tone. On other systems it was known as Deliverance: Stormlord II, but because the first game wasn't ported to the Mac, the subtitle was dropped. Controls are very simple, so simple in fact that might be a little confusing, as there is no open or pick up key. The jump key is used for those tasks instead.

This engaging and attractive puzzle game was first developed for the PC. Translation to the Mac proved to be an upgrade, at least visually. Each level is solved by blowing up the Mars face. Dozens of movable, operable objects must be utilized in game play somewhat reminiscent of The Incredible Machine.

A very addictive arcade game, much like Centipede. Destroy diamond blocks, collect power ups and destroy the worm thing before it gets to the bottom of the screen, you godda be quick! Nice music and pretty graphics.

Tesserae

A unique puzzle game that never caught on. You're presented with a field of tiles, each of which bears a circle, square, cross, or some combination of these. The goal is to flip tiles over each other, subtracting symbols one or more at a time and hopefully working down to a single basic tile. Works on a B/W compact Mac on up (though 256-color mode makes the tiles easier to distinguish.) Was inducted into MacWorld Game Hall of Fame as best "brain game" of the year.

Cogito
