On other systems it was known as Deliverance: Stormlord II, but because the first game wasn't ported to the Mac, the subtitle was dropped. Controls are very simple, so simple in fact that might be a little confusing, as there is no open or pick up key. The jump key is used for those tasks instead.

Translation to the Mac proved to be an upgrade, at least visually. Each level is solved by blowing up the Mars face. Dozens of movable, operable objects must be utilized in game play somewhat reminiscent of The Incredible Machine.

The manual makes an explanation of the game's odd name:

A tour de force of animation and sound, 3 in Three challenges you to help the stranded 3 repair the damaged system, evade a virus detector, outwit an annoying pi symbol, and thwart a host of misfit vowels, all in her desperate attempts to get back home.

You're presented with a field of tiles, each of which bears a circle, square, cross, or some combination of these. The goal is to flip tiles over each other, subtracting symbols one or more at a time and hopefully working down to a single basic tile. Works on a B/W compact Mac on up (though 256-color mode makes the tiles easier to distinguish.) Was inducted into MacWorld Game Hall of Fame as best "brain game" of the year.

Based on the game Stained Glass by Kent Brewster.

Shapes and moves become more complex at each level. The tensions of the day dissipate as you are drawn into the ever more engrossing puzzles of Cogito's geometric world...

There is a Newton version of Cogito available at the United Network of Newton Archives.
