This is the extremely rare BlueLabel PowerEmulator 1.8 final edition from Lismore Soft (later known as Lismore Systems). It was praised as being the best PC emulator several years ago (before the GuestPC/VirtualPC battle began, leavin' SoftWindows 98 on the back burner) though, sadly, it really seems to function EXACTLY like 1.7 because it has no noticeable bug fixes (at least none that I could point out anyway) or enhancements over the older version. This is a sharp contrast over 1.6 and earlier that had MANY changes added in the 1.7 release.

Compatibility:

68k is untested; may be PPC only
64 MB RAM or more (PC-DOS only with less memory)
Probably OS 8 or later (just a guess because only was tested on OS 9)

Please be aware that in my test these things occured:

ethernet connection would not work (unlike VirtualPC 3.0 where it did work under Windows 98 SE)
mouse under Windows was frozen (but for some reason, the mouse worked normally with USB Overdrive disabled on Mac Startup)
Windows system sounds work but in Media Player, no music or sound files would play (received a "no audio hardware found" error
CDs will play if they are in the drive before the emulation is started, but once ejected, won't be detected by Windows when inserted at a later time (PC must be rebooted for the new CD to work)
USB floppy drives don't get detected by the emulation and floppy images don't always work
despite how much memory was given to the emulated computer, Windows was painfully slow (For a Pentium II, it seemed to have more like the speed of a 386, even with the Finder being the only program open on the Mac side)
the 'shared folder' is interpreted by Windows as some sort of quasi-read-only DOS hard disk (complete with 8.3 short file names) that can be copied from or copied to, but not deleted from or had its files renamed
the "create hard drive" feature only works when all Mac extensions are turned off, otherwise the emulator will give an error about not being able make one. VERRRY annoyin', especially since drives from other emulators wont be recognized and unlike virtualpc, doesnt have a 'convert' feature
