The story, as far as I can determine: ICI released MacPuzzle in mid-1984. A few months later, Hayden reprinted it as MasterPieces, albeit without changing anything of substance. This archive contains both releases.

In every incarnation, the game is about turning MacPaint graphics into jigsaw puzzles which you solve on your screen. There are six piece sizes, resulting in between 9 and 196 pieces. To join matching pieces, line them up and then click on one of them.

"The Sargon series were the connoisseur's chess games at the time. This edition includes variable move times, ranging from 5 seconds to infinity. Moves can be undone and you can swap sides during the game. The search feature displays its calculations as you play, which can be useful to learn from. Special tactical situations, opening move sequences and checkmate practices can be loaded in for learning purposes."
