Breach

This tactical sci-fi RPG has a very odd way of doing things; the manual is required to get the lay of the land. You start by launching the level editor to choose your squad leader's name, then tote that character between scenarios to rack up experience. (Some user-created maps are included, but I have yet to find a copy of the official expansion pack, The Serayachi Campaign.)

According to advertising, the Mac version of Breach was unique in having digitized sound.

You don't need to look up words from the manual. Just click OK — the copy protection has been defused.
