The game originally shipped in 1997 on a CD, included in a Chex&reg; cereal box as a promotion for breakfast cereal.</p> <p><b>Ralston Foods</b>, the owners of the cereal brand at the time, employed Digital Café to develop the game. Permission was given by ID to use the Doom engine and the Doom 1 IWAD to do this.
